The incident occurred in Fairfield around 11:10 a.m. on Mountain Laurel Road on Sunday, April 14.
According to Sgt. Michael Stahl of the Fairfield Police, the victim, is in serious condition following the stabbing during a domestic dispute.
Arrested was Robert Van Weddle of Fairfield. He was charged with:
- Criminal attempt to commit murder
- Assault
- Disorderly conduct
Weddle was held on bond and transported to Bridgeport Superior Court this morning.
“Domestic violence is an issue that affects individuals and families across our community," Stahl said. "No one should ever feel trapped or alone in such circumstances. It's imperative for individuals to know that help is readily available.
The department is urging anyone experiencing domestic violence or who knows someone who is to reach out to the confidential and supportive services offered throughout Connecticut, he added.
